"Writers on Writing" Series to Host Evening with Huffington Post Blogger and Author R. Clifton Spargo

Renowned novelist to discuss writing and social justice

R. Clifton Spargo, a novelist and cultural critic, will speak on writing about social justice issues on Tuesday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Stiemke Hall. He'll also read from his critically acclaimed novel, Beautiful Fools, The Last Affair of Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the University's Master of Arts in English Program

Spargo writes "The HI/LO," a blog for The Huffington Post. His work has appeared in numerous publications including The Chicago Tribune, Commonweal and The Yale Review. Spargo also teaches "The Stories We Tell," a healing-focused writing workshop for survivors of sexual violence and trafficking. In conjunction with the award-winning non-profit The Voices and Faces Project, the workshop has been held for Milwaukee area survivors at Mount Mary. Spargo is a graduate of the doctoral program in literature at Yale University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
