Summer program backed by the Pack
Mount Mary’s Summer Leadership Academy received a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation in support of programming for high school age girls.
The $4,000 grant will underwrite a portion of the programming to keep registration costs low for participants and provide financial need scholarships for those who need them.
The Summer Leadership Academy is a three-day residential college-prep, career exploration, and leadership program for young women who are emerging high school leaders.
Participants experience panel discussions, lectures and interactive workshops presented by experts from a variety of backgrounds, including law, business, education, and non-profits. Next year’s Academy takes place Sunday, June 23 through Wednesday, June 26, 2019.
"Mount Mary is thrilled that the Packers Foundation recognizes the importance of this programming and the impact it has on the confidence and success of so many young women," said Anne Kahl, director of Corporations and Foundations and interim director of the Women’s Leadership Institute.
Kahl and Grants Manager Cassie Jeffrey-Miller traveled to Green Bay on Tuesday, Dec. 5 to participate in the ceremony, at which the Packers Foundation awarded $800,000 to over 200 nonprofits throughout Wisconsin. This is MMU’s first gift from the Packers Foundation.
