2025 Student Commencement Speaker Will Share Themes of Growth, Resilience
Congratulations to Mileisis Romero Morban, who has been selected as student speaker for the Mount Mary spring 2025 commencement ceremony. Romero Morban will graduate with a Fashion Design major and double minors in Studio Art and Art Therapy. In her May 17 commencement address, she will discuss building community and embracing a spirit of exploration.
As a student, Romero Morban found connection through the Mount Mary Caroline Scholars program, where she forged friendships working with organizations like the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin and Big Brothers Big Sisters Milwaukee. She also built community through her active involvement in extracurricular activities like the MMU Fashion Association, International Club and dancing.
In 2023 Romero Morban became the first Mount Mary student to receive the critical language scholarship, a government program that promotes cross-cultural diplomacy through study abroad. The opportunity brought her to South Korea, where she studied language and culture.
“Traveling the world has taught me to ask questions, challenge insecurities and become resilient,” Romero Morban said, adding that the experience helped her realize her innate capabilities.
Romero Morban advises the class of 2025 to embrace the unknown and have patience with the time it often takes for plans and goals to unfold.
“It’s okay to get lost on the way to your ideal future,” she said. “Things won’t always go as planned. Learn to embrace the unexpected along the way.”
